Tool Permissions

Tool permissions decide when Aethera can use tools on your behalf. They apply to internal capabilities and connected apps, and changes apply to new tool calls immediately.

LevelBehaviorBest for
Auto-approveAethera can run the tool without asking again.Low-risk read actions you trust.
Ask approvalAethera asks before using the tool. Most write actions and uncertain workflows.
BlockAethera cannot use the tool.Sensitive, destructive, or unnecessary tools.

Select Settings from the sidebar.

Choose Tool permissions from the settings navigation.

Use the left rail to select an internal capability group. Connected apps are listed separately and link back to their connector-specific permission view.

Choose Auto-approve, Ask approval, or Block for individual tools.

Internal tool groups are organized by capability. Each group separates:

  • Read-only tools, such as browsing or searching information.
  • Write / delete tools, such as creating, updating, exporting, deleting, or modifying content.

Use the group dropdown to set every tool in a group at once, or change tools individually.

Connected apps appear in the left rail after they are active in the current workspace. Selecting one opens the app’s tool-permissions view from the Connectors page.

Connector permissions are workspace-scoped. If you switch from Personal to an organization workspace, review the permissions again.

Each internal group includes Reset to defaults. Use it when you want to discard custom overrides and return the group to Aethera’s default permission behavior.

If Aethera tries to use a blocked tool, the action does not run. Change the tool from Block to Ask approval or Auto-approve if you want to allow it in future runs.

  • Auto-approve trusted read-only tools you use often.
  • Keep write/delete tools on Ask approval unless the workflow is routine.
  • Block tools you do not want Aethera to use in the current workspace.
  • Revisit permissions after connecting a new app or joining an organization workspace.
