Deep Research

Deep Research reads hundreds of web sources and writes the findings into a cited Compose document. You agree a plan first, then the work runs in the background while you do something else.

When to use it

Deep Research is a heavier path than the web search Aethera already does in an ordinary chat. Use it when the answer is a document rather than a reply.

• Use Deep Research for market landscapes, competitor teardowns, technology comparisons, diligence, and regulatory reviews. Anything where you want sections, tables, and a source list.
• Use an ordinary chat for a question with a short answer, a fact to check, or a handful of links. It is faster and costs far less.

Starting a research run

1. Open the add menu. Select the + button to the left of the model selector in the chatbox.

2. Select Deep research. A token appears in the chatbox. It stays there across messages until you remove it, because agreeing a plan usually takes more than one message.

3. Write your request. Describe what you want to know and what it is for. The more specific you are, the fewer questions Aethera has to ask.

4. Answer any questions. If the request is broad, Aethera asks up to three short questions about scope, timeframe, or audience before proposing anything.

5. Review the plan. Aethera proposes 3 to 6 sections. Each has a title and the question that section must answer.

6. Edit anything you want to change. Section titles and questions are editable in place. You can add a section, remove one, and set the depth.

7. Select Start research. The credits are charged at this point, and the run begins.

Note

The plan is the part worth your attention. It decides what gets searched and how the report is structured, and you know your own question better than Aethera does. Editing it takes a few seconds and changes the whole result.

Choosing a depth

Depth	Reads up to	Best for
Standard	240 sources	Most questions. A focused report on a defined topic.
Deep	420 sources	Broad topics, or when you want the widest possible coverage.

Deep costs twice as much as Standard and takes longer. Start with Standard unless the topic is genuinely wide.

While it runs

A card in the chat shows the current phase and live counters: how many sources were found, how many have been read, and how many sections are written. You can close the tab. The run continues.

If browser notifications are turned on, Aethera tells you when the report is ready. See Manage account for notification settings.

To stop a run, select Cancel on the card. The run stops at the next safe point and your credits are returned.

When it finishes

The card becomes a link to your finished document. The report contains:

• An opening summary that answers your objective directly
• One section per item in the plan you approved
• Inline numbered links on the claims, so you can check any statement against its source
• A Sources list at the end with every cited page, its site, and its date

The document is an ordinary Compose document. You can edit it, ask the AI Assistant to rework a section, and export it to PDF or DOCX.

Costs

Deep Research is charged as one flat fee when you press Start, not per search. The plan card shows the exact number before you commit.

If a run fails, or you cancel it, the credits are returned automatically.

Caution

You can have one research run going at a time. Wait for it to finish, or cancel it, before starting another.

Limits

• Deep Research is available in the main chat. It is not available in the Compose or Video Editor side panels, which are scoped to the document you have open.
• Aethera reads pages that are publicly reachable. It cannot read anything behind a login or a paywall.
• Some pages fail to load. A run skips them and reports the number it actually read, which is why the sources found and sources read counts differ.
